Established in 1986, Bangladesh Medical College (BMC) is the first private medical college in Bangladesh. Located in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, it is affiliated with the University of Dhaka and offers a five-year MBBS program followed by a compulsory one-year internship. The college is managed by the Bangladesh Medical Studies and Research Institute (BMSRI), a non-political and non-profit organization founded in 1984 .
